Reignition

Medium: Black and white pencils on Canson Mi Teintes paper, 2023
Size: 8.2 × 11.6 in

This drawing was meant to mark a fresh chapter in an ongoing collaboration—something like a quiet rekindling. I started working on it almost immediately after receiving the reference, sensing a kind of invitation in the pose.

Later I found out the image had been sent to others as well, which shifted the energy for me. It didn’t undo the beauty of the form, but it did echo something I’d often felt in our creative rhythm: like two musicians not quite playing in sync.

Still, the drawing found its own way forward, and eventually its own home—bought directly from my site by an art appreciator who didn’t reach out beforehand, just knew they wanted it. That in itself felt like a quiet kind of closure.
